Memories of Summer

It's actually cloudy and cold now but I wanted something warm and bright!

Vancouver rocks

While visiting Seattle for an IT conference I had a chance to drive up and see Vancouver for a day. It's a very nice place and we couldn't have had much better weather for our visit.

I'm in Seattle for an IT conference next week and managed to get a few extra days in shooting. This is from a tour called Seattle Underground, pretty interesting.

Yosemite Half Dome

Hanging out at Yosemite was very relaxing and peaceful. It's easily one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. Half dome is such a majestic scene. Did I just say majestic? This image also marks my 800th picture posted here at jasonspix.com! Whew!

Alcatraz

During my recent visit to San Francisco I had a chance to visit Alcatraz. Alcatraz was a federal prison up until 1963 and is located on an island next to San Francisco. It was an interesting site to visit for sure.

Charger by the Coast

Almost doesn't look real. I messed around with this shot a lot more than I normally do, but I was having fun. We had a good time driving this Charger around the San Francisco country side.

The Golden Gate Bridge 002

The Golden Gate Bridge

A couple of weeks ago I went to San Francisco to attend a seminar. We had a few extra days to go site seeing and we wore ourselves out. It was a blast and I really enjoyed San Francisco. It's hard to get a feel for just how big this bridge is. Look on the bridge and you'll see the cars going across and from those you can get a small sense for the size. What was wild was that at times a fog would roll in and you wouldn't be able to see the bridge at all.

These Reggae performers were really good. I walked up right while they started one of my favorite Bob Marley songs, Three Little Birds. Good stuff.

Half Dome Yosemite

I just had to post this a little size than I normally do. I wish this better conveyed the wowness of this area of Yosemite National Park.

Lombard Street

I'm in San Francisco this week for an IT Project Management seminar. For the first couple of days I was fortunate enough to spend a few days site seeing and having fun. This is Lombard Street, the crookedest street in San Francisco. I drove down it and several other crazy steep streets here. Pretty fun. You can't really get the scope of this street from my shot.

The Dome inside the capital

If you were standing in the middle of the chairs from yesterday's picture looking up, this is what you'd see.

Inside the Capital

A brief rare moment of no people in the capital building. Most of the time we were there it was borderline chaos most of the time.

Missouri State Seal

It's not as sharp as I was hoping, but the light was horrible and I didn't have a tripod (excuses, excuses, I know).

Missouri Capital building in Jefferson City

We took our kids to visit Jefferson City, the capital of Missouri. During our visit we saw the capital building, Governor's mansion and a few other historic sites. It was a very interesting visit. While we were there the House of Representatives was in session and we were able to watch some of the proceedings. Our democratic process is quite a complex thing.

Boy I need to get out and take some pictures! I'm so ready for the weather to warm up. I'm just not a go out in the cold and take pictures kinda guy!

One of the little girls in our party at the Olive Garden decided to dance with our waiter.

Dancer

Sometimes moments happen and you just don't have time to get your camera out in time. Or when you do get it out the lens you have on doesn't give you enough of the scene. And then the moment is gone. I still like how this turned out, but I wish I had time to get it a bit better. She started spinning and dancing while we were eating at Olive Garden and I thought oh, that would make a good shot. By the time I was prepared she decided she'd done enough. She did decide to dance with our waiter as you'll see tomorrow.

4 years old!

Wow! This week marks four years from the first picture I posted here. Thanks to all of you who have stopped by over the years and thanks to all of you who keep on shooting and who keep providing me with inspiration to get out and shoot more myself. Let's keep going for another 4 years!
